Delta Orinoco

Region of Amacuro state is isolated because of concentration of local roads around Tucupita. Other roads directs through plenty of Orinoco river canals. Those canals make small islands covered by carpet of rain forest and moriche palms. Here are living Warao Indians building their houses on wood sticks over the banks of the river. They are masters of canou making and baskets, knows all water roads in canals. They fish and hunt for small animals in the forest, know how to survive there and utilize all natural sources. They sleep in hammocks, few famlies together in one place. They cultivate only yuka from which they make local bread and cook like potatoes. Their handcrafts are famous in the region and main source of their earnings. In Delta Orinoco we can admire iguanas sitting on trees, lots of birds including toucans and parrots, monkeys, ocelots and tapirs. However, it is difficult to see the biggest ones personally. We can fish piranhas or go by boat in the night to see caymans. There are few beautiful ecological lodges deeply in canals of delta. There you can contemplate rain forest nature, go for a walk with an Indian guide to see how Indians utilize wild plants in the forest, spend a romantic sunset in the middle of the river, to hear thousand of parrots going to one place to sleep, spend a night in typical palafito house close to the river, hear all voices of wild nature in the night. This is unforgotten experience!
