Gran Sabana

To stimulate our imagination before coming to Gran Sabana good to read the book “The Lost World” by Arthur Conan Doyle. A scenery of diabolic table mountains growing over hills of Gran Sabana allows easily imagine walking dinosaurus here. You can get here by 5 persons aviette via Canaima lagoon or by night buses from Puerto Ordaz or Ciudad Bolivar. Recommended flight by aviette as views are marvelous when aviette flys between tepuy summits. Grass covered hills of Sabana are 750-1450 m high. In valleys grow rain forests or moriche palms. This is a land of Taurepanes, Arekuna and Kamaragoto Indian tribes. Their huts are build from red soil and palm roof. There are almost 300 waterfalls in the region: those which are only to admire, those with natural swimming pools and water bubles in rocks baths, cascade to take shower under. Water from that region is pure, virgin and full of magnetism of good energy, which was confirmed by researches made by Russian scientists (watch the documentary film water or secrets of water). The highest is here Salto Aponwao 115 m high. First you go off road, then by boat 20 minutes to the feet of waterfall. You can walk on high clif to see the waterfall from the top or go down to feel power of its waters and take fresh shower. Another impressive waterfall is Kama Meru 50 m high located with nice view for Roraima and Kukenan tepuys. The amasing colours of read and orange has jaspis stone of Jaspe waterfall. This is a cascade where you can stand under shower. Jaspis stone is spread deep into forest for 700m length.

Typical picnic places are Soroape and Pacheco waterfalls. Here you can swim in natural swimming pool, take a shower sitting under waterfall or take a natural jacuzzi bubles in shaped rocky baths. Indian cousin with spicy aints and termits souce you can taste in Indian community San Francisco de Yuruani. Only one town, isolated between hills is Santa Elena de Uairen. Famous of gold and diamond mines, which are located in
El Pauji
Indian community. Santa Elena is located 30 min from the boarder with Brazil. It is a start point of Roraima and Chiricayen trekkings. Here you can rent a helicopter, try paragliding or watch temporary organized sport motocross. In local night clubs you can learn how to dance salsa, marengue, focho, calypso.
