What to pack to Venezuela?
· Luggage max 10kg (backpack the best, small planes and aviette do not accept more then 10 kg)
· Confortable sport shoes and sandals to walk into the water (antislippery)
· Towel, torch, toilet paper or baby refreshment paper
· 1 pair of shorts, 2 x cotton trousers, 1 x long sleeved shirt against mosquitoes, swimming dress, 2 pairs of cotton t-shirts, fleece or jumper for a night
· Sun hat, poncho or rain jacket (can be sudden rain), sun protector, repellents, binoculars
· Malaria tablets, stomachache medicines, basic first aid kit
· Batteries and camera cards – limited access to electricity in Canaima and Delta
· American style plug adaptors (110V)

Which vaccines are required in Venezuela?
In Venezuela not required but recommended hepatitis A+B, typhoid fever, tetanus toxoid + diphtheria, yellow fever certificate obligatory to cross the Brasilian border.

Do I need visa to Venezuela?
If you are from Europe, do not need visa up to 3 months of stay. Passport valid at least 6 months.

When is the best month to visit Venezuela?
Dry season is from October up to April. Rain season from May up to Septemper. In reality the hottest month is Dicember, April, August. The most of rain is in May and June. At north sun practically all the year, cloudy at south of Venezuela, in the region of Canaima Gran Sabana possible intensive, short rains.

How big is the risk of being bited by snake or tarantula?
It is rather seldom to be bited by wild animals in Venezuela. All tourists path animals avoid from far away. Hammocks in Canaima have mosquitiera protecting from night insects, beds in Delta Orinoco as well. Some of people have allergy on puri puri flies, so better to take gel after bits of insects, calcium and vitamin B. Always check shoes before putting feet inside of it when you are out of civilization.

Is Venezuela safety or dangerous country?
Big cities particularly Caracas do not have opinion of safety cities. The best is to treat big cities as transfer places only. Avoid going by metro or walking on the streets after dark or going to night clubs. As a tourist you are just visable as opportunity for a small thieves. The bad propaganda about robbing with guns is rather exagerated. Small towns, villages are safety. Indians out of civilization very honest and pure people. However, better always take documents and valuable things with you, do not leave it at hotel, which does not take a responsibility for your belongings.

Where to change money, it is possible to use debit, credit cards?
Offcial exchange rate is 1 USD = 2,15 BF, 1 EUR = 3 BF. You can buy it from the bank, but you cannot change it back for foreign currency. Nobody in Venezuela can open bank account in other currency then Bolivar Fuerte. If you send USD or EUR by western union to Venezuela, you will get Bolivar Fuerte equivalent at official exchange rate. The black market value offers often 2 times more then official exchange rate, so better to bring cash to the country. Not all debit and credit cards are accepted by cash machines in Venezuela.

Can I eat everything in Venezuela?
It is very difficult to be poisoned by food in Venezuela. Just avoid fried fast food from the streets as oil can be not fresh, do not eat lettuce as it is probably not washed very well. Sometimes in Canaima people have problems with stomache but it is gone very fast after 3-4 hours from taking a medicine. Water from tap is clean, can be used to wash teeth. During Roraima trekking the guide shows the streams of river to take a water to drink.

Which airlines fly to Venezuela?
There are flights from Europe by Lufthansa and AirFrance to Caracas. Also Condor has charter flights to Porlamar.
