Delta Orinoco
1Day 1 - Puerto Ordaz / Delta Orinoco
Transfer from Puerto Ordaz or Maturin to boat station close to Tucupita. Transfer by fast boats to the Orinoco Delta Lodge approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Lodge is comfortable and blends with the surroundings. Check-In your cabin and enjoy the area around the camp with a dug-out canoe. Camp has a small zoo, you can see there the Giant Otter, the Blue and Yellow Macaw, the Howler Monkey, the Puma. The same day we start our excursion by motor boat to explore remote areas. Here we will visit the Warao Indians and learn how they live in this isolated land of swamps and jungles. We will take an unforgettable jungle walk with expert guides to discover the beauty of this wonderful place. The area is rich of fauna and flora. Tall giant trees and palm galleries shaped through thousands of years. An infinite network of small and big rivers flowing slowly covered with a carpet of water haycinth plants. This is home for many birds including macaws, parrots, toucans, kingfishers, herons, hawks, egrets and storks. The fauna includes howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, giant river otters, freshwater dolphins, agoutis, pumas, and jaguars. many species of snakes including the mighty anaconda and boa constrictors. Coming back to the camp for dinner.
2Day 2 - Delta Orinoco
From now on we have very well organized schedule:
- Breakfast at 8:00 AM
- After breakfast you leave to remote area of the Delta, heading to Simoina Camp (rustic but comfortable camp)
- During the boat ride you will visit the Indians, taking a glimpse of their way of living and see many small rivers with an extensive vegetation
- Lunch served in the Jungle at Simoina Camp.
- In the afternoon a jungle walk with experienced guides to venture into this mysterious world of the Warao Indians. Here you can touch and smell what you usually see only on television, the tropical rainforest.
- Back to Simoina Camp at 6:30 PM
- Dinner served at 8:00 PM
- Night trip to search for caimans with spotlights at night. Cross the jungle in a canoe through a 1-2m wide canal.
- Sleep in Hammocks with mosquito net.
The Simoina Camp is situated in the exceptional and beautiful place. 2 ½ from the Orinoco Delta Lodge. This camp is excellent for adventure travelers that enjoy trekking, bird watching and sport fishing (tarpon). In this area you can see animals in their natural ambience, such as: Jaguars, puma, ocelot, re howler, capuchin monkeys, capybary, agouti, giant otter, manatee and sweet water dolphins. A large variety of birds such as: hoatzin, macaws, parrots, toucans, hawks, falcons, cormorants, harpy eagles, kingfishers, and hummingbirds.
Lodging: located at the riverside within lush vegetation, the camp has hammocks covered with mosquito nets and shared bathrooms.
3Day 3 - Delta Orinoco
- Breakfast served at 8:00 AM
- After breakfast, boat ride into the small rivers to observe the birds and do some tarpon fishing.
- Lunch at Simoina camp.
- After lunch back to the base camp, during the boat ride you can observe the Flora and the Fauna, monkeys, toucans, parrots, anaconda and others.
- Dinner served at 8:00 PM at the Orinoco Delta Lodge.
4Day 4 - Delta Orinoco / Puerto Ordaz
Breakfast at 8:00 AM
Canoe ride around the camp.
Visit the school for the Warao children
Back to Boca de Uracoa or to Tucupita. Transfer back to Puerto Ordaz
