Roraima trekking
1Day 1 - two options:
Option 1 . Transfer from from the airport in Caracas to the hotel. Next day morning transfer to the airport, flight to to Ciudad Bolivar, hotel accomodation close to the airport.Ciudad Bolivar is a colonial city with colourful houses situated on the banks of Orinoco river. In the afternoon visiting old part of city.
Opcion 2. Transfer from hotel in Caracas to bus station, driver passes bus tickets to Ciudad Bolivar, journey takes around 8 hours. Hotel accommodation.
2Day 2 - two options:
Opcion 1. Meeting at the airport in Ciudad Bolivar. Flight by aviette over tepuy, jungle, Gran Sabana to Santa Elena.
Optcion 2. 8:30 AM pick up from the hotel in Ciudad Bolivar. Passing different small towns on the way in the direction to Gran Sabana. First stop in El Callao – town of gold mines, good place to buy jewellery. Having lunch in Tumeremo town. Next stop in the gold fever town - El Dorado. Hotel accommodation close to Gran Sabana borders. In such a scenario next day trekking starts without a need to go to Santa Elena
2Day 3 - Santa Elena / Paraitepuy /Rio Tek camp
9:00 pick up from the hotel in Santa Elena, main luggage stays in the car with driver, attendee carries only bag with necessary cloth for 6 days/tent/sleeping bag/mattress or rent a private porter service. Going by jeep around 2 hours to Paraitepui from where trekking starts. Last repacking, lunch and around 4 hours hiking among Gran Sabana hills. Preparing the camp, dinner served by guide and porters. First night in tents at Rio Tek river with marvelous view on Kukenan tepuy.
4Day 4 - Base camp
After breakfast continuation of 5 hours hiking from Kukenan river to the base of Roraima Tepuy. Lunch on the way, time for refreshing bath in the river. Preparing the camp, dinner.
5Day 5 - Top of Roraima
After breakfast the most difficult part of activities - climbing up to the mountain by the rocky ramp to the top of tepuy. It takes around 5 hours. You are in the tropical forest, passing small waterfall, going thru mountain streams, suddenly you are in clouds. Top of Roraima suprises with real moon view: black, different shapes of rocks, wholes in the earth, swamps, endemic plants. Here we having lunch. Free time to explore the nearest area close to the camp, getting close to the edge of Roraima, taking a bath in small natural pools. Preparing the camp under rocky mountain roof, dinner. Temperature in the night close to 5ºC.
6Day 6 - Exploring the top of Roraima
After breakfast exploring the top of Roraima during full day walk with guide: cristal valley, lake in the earth with waterfall, strange shapes of rocks, unique endemic plants, 3point - boarder of Venezuela, Guayana, Brasil. Lunch on the way. Late afternoon coming back to the camp, dinner.
7Day 7 - Going down to Rio Tek camp
After breakfast we prepare equipment and go down up to Rio Tek camp. Lunch on the way. Preparing camp, dinner.
8Day 8 - Paraitepuy / Santa Elena
After breakfast we leave the camp to get to Indian village Paraitepui. Here relax and lunch time. Transfer back by jeeps to Santa Elena.
